    Hi,

I’m trying to open a Corel file in Illustrator but am having trouble because it won’t open. I was working on the image at a friends and then we emailed it to me (so I know exactly what it is), but this isn’t working. Any insights? Has anybody got Corel Draw that can open it for me, save it as something I can open and edit in Illustrator? Any and all help appreciated! Please email me at . . .

You want ot open the .cdr file in corel and export this to either .pdf, .ai or .eps adn open this in illustrator.

On troublesome files you may have to try all 3 and piece this back together if you get dropped elelments. Gradients are the worst, and I sometimes fill a gradient with a solid color in corel, and reapply my gradient values in illustrator. USually PDF is the best format for converting the gradients, btuj they get bitmapped so future editing can be difficult.
