  How do you change the color background of a portrait

  I just took my first portrait photograph yesterday. My daughter has allowed me to practice for her high school yearbook photo. Actually, it came out well for a first time. I have not used photoshop that much, so I would like help in how to change the color of the backdrop I used. Do I cut her out and put her on a different background? If so, can you tell me the steps to do that?
