can I change a large amount of file extensions at one time?
My computer crashed. I’m in the process of loading all my plugins, etc. into CS2. Luckily, I backed up a disc that has all my brushes on it, but there are well over 2000 brushes. All the file extensions in this disc are png. Its going to take me forever to manually upload each brush and change them to abr files. Please let me know if there is a quicker way.

No…. Sorry… PNG files are not brushes by themselves…
You have to open and save each one as a brush….
You could create an action for those steps… but the brushes wouldn’t be named and you’d have to go back and actually save the set after loading them

I realize that the brushes have to be in abr format, but a few of my brushes are jpg. Can I do that? I’m just trying to figure out a less complicated and less time consuming way to get them in my brush file. Can you tell me how to write an action? I’ve never done this and have only used a few actions, but they confuse me.

Actions are quite easy…. you just click record and do the steps you want to capture… then run a batch.

Here is an article… suggest you also pick up a book and invest a little time on the core features… you are making things hard on yourself.
