Opening CS5.5 with CS6
Posted by Criis Daw on May 7, 2015 at 12:20 pmSynchronizing Animation to Audio Using After Effects tutorial
Hi can anyone help ?
https://library.creativecow.net/articles/ebberts_dan/audio_sync.php
I have downloaded the project files for this tutorial. I understand it was made in CS5.5 which i don’t have but I do have CS6 bit it wont let me open it.
I am sure I have opened old projects with CS6 before .Maybe i will have to resurrect an old machine…..
Thanks in advance

May 7, 2015 at 2:07 pmWhat error messages does it show when you try to open it? You can definitely open CS5.5 projects with CS6.
WAIT!
I just clicked on the link. That’s not CS5.5 (which was AE version 10.5); that is actually After Effects VERSION 5.5! The newest version that could open one that old is AE version 9 (which is CS4).
See this page [link] for compatibility details.

May 7, 2015 at 2:28 pmha ha yes .. it does indeed say 5.5 ..
My mistake I assumed it was CS5.5.
So I need a copy of CS 4 !
AE 5.5 was what I learned on . Fairly certain I don’t have a copy though. If i remember correctly AE6 was when the docked panels were introduced. I used to undock everything to keep it old school.
There must be a copy of CS4 floating around a machine here somewhere. Or I might just follow the steps and rebuild it. I might post up a modern version when its done ..
Thanks for pointing out my error

May 7, 2015 at 3:14 pmHaha – it’s okay. That whole CS naming convention throws everyone off.
The OpenSesame script might be helpful to you. https://aescripts.com/pt_opensesame/– The Great Szalam

I trust Dan won’t mind that I’ve taken the liberty of updating his AE v5.5 file to CS6 (v11):
