  True 3D text?

  I can not seem to find the command to make a 3d text layer with depth (extrude). I can manipulate the layer in 3d, but the layer has not depth. I have found something in the EFFECTS > 3D Channel that has variaables for the “Z depth”. Changing the Z dimension does not seem to affect the depth of the text.

  I am using AE 6.5 and am well versed in other 3d programs such as 3D Max.

  There is no native capability to give objects true 3D volume. For that you need something like Zaxwerks Invigorator or a true 3D app.

  AE gives you 3D compositing space. Every layer is still essentially a flat screen on whose surface content appears.

  Whoops, wrong forum (thought this was AE).

  You can simulate 3D by applying layer styles like Bevel.

  Whoo. I did post this in the wrong forum. I have been trying to find this post for the last week. I just found it today. I did intend it to be be in AE.

  Thanks for your reply. I will need to use 3d max for part of my intro.
