  4K Stock Footage for Compositing

  Hey everyone. I’m stitching a background together for a client using some getty images. Eventually this background is going to be key into the background of two models walking. These models are shot in 4K and the client wants the background to match the 4K footage, BUT they want to keep the cost down. I can get 4K stock footage but in your opinion how low do you think I can get the resolution before it starts to look unnatural? Thanks!

  Assuming you are going the route of using a still image for the background: Don’t go lower that the target resolution.

  Which means you would need to know what the framing will be and then ensure that it is always 4K for that frame area. So if the frame area is 1/2 of the width of the full image, the image would have to be 8K, if the framing is 1/3 of the full image, the image would have to be 12K (width wise), etc.
