  • How do I cut an image into jigsaw pieces and separate layers

Posted by Lars Hansen on June 27, 2014 at 10:37 am

I would like to take a black and white template of jigsaw pieces that I downloaded from the web and use it cut up an image into individual jigsaw pieces that are each on their own layer.

    How do I do this?

    Thank you for your help

    Hi

    —–think you need either —

1 ) black and white matte for each layer ( piece )

    OR

    2 ) vector for each layer ( piece )

Also, depending on what you want to achieve, there is also a jigsaw option with the shatter effect ( that comes with AE ) which might be useful – example attached

    Hi Lars –

    — if you want to use it as a wipe its pretty good I think — I gues you could reverse it as well to get an image to assemble

    — will have another go at attaching example image

    should be here

There’s a Photoshop plug-in called “Puzzle Pro” that is designed specifically for this task.
