Bridge renaming errors…bamboozled
Hi gang,
New member here, hoping to tap the hive mind for a solution to/explanation of an error I get when renaming files in bridge. I’ve scoured the Adobe site, CC forums and Google, but can’t find anyone else with this exact problem, let alone a solution.
I’m renaming a job lot of JPGs, after cropping and doing absolutely nothing to the metadata I use a photoshop action to title them in a templated format : XBOXEP_$_EP
The ens result I’m trying to achieve is a filename like this: XBOXEP_TITLE_EP01
Bridge is perfectly capable of swapping the “$” for any short text I want, but trying to use Sequence Number causes problems.
Bridge puts the sequence number AFTER the file extension, creating this: XBOXEP_TITLE_EP.jpg01
I’ve tried to use the sequence number without the first “$” rename, and the same error still occurs
While it’s a simple enough task to add in the numbers myself, it’s insanely annoying that I can’t figure out the glitch.
I’m on Mac OSX, have Bridge optimised for this and haven’t had any other issues with Batch Rename.
Any ideas/solutions?

Don’t you have to add .JPG to the end in the naming format? In other words, instead of “XBOXEP_$_EP” shouldn’t it be “XBOXEP_$_EP.JPG”?
Just a thought. Also, can’t you specify in the script where the numbers go? Can you post the script?

Thanks for the response.
I’ve tried that approach, Bridge still adds the file extension on, so I get “XBOXEP_$_EP.JPG.JPG”
In terms of scripts, I didn’t write one myself, I used the pop-up “wizard” in Bridge itself.

Hmmm, well I don’t know how to make that work, but maybe you can try the File Sequencer. https://www.johnnarun.com/file_sequencer/ – it’s for Mac only, but there are similar apps for Win.
