  Custom shapes along a path

  Hi
  I need to be able to stroke a path with a custom shape eg DASHES around a SHAPE for which I can then edit the points.

  PS can stroke a path/selection… but it is not editable
  PS can stroke a shape with a pattern stroke but goes weird when you pull the points around
  PS can type text wingbats along a path then pull the points around (best bet but I may want different stroke images)
  but I want it to do as Illustrator would do… The art work on the stroke will always edit with the points….

  I can make a good custom shape with my art work, define that as one shape but I’d need more than one shape if the image aspect ratio changed too much)
  I can’t use AI for this though as I need to set up some actions on a folder ( all stills to have a artwork border)

  Use Illustrator in conjunction with Photoshop.
