  colours in the layers palette

  In my layers palette i currently have a choice of 7 colours, but when im working with hundreds of layers, it would be really nice to have more colours to choose from. Is there any way to define the colours i have? Or is there a plug in i can use? Ive had a google and found nothing to be honest.
