After following the tutorial for “Making Elements Grow in After Effects” I realized I had a problem. After copying my mask shape to my “write-on” effect, I noticed that the drawing was not on top of where the mask originated from. Also to add insult to injury, the mask isn’t the same length… it’s a bit shorter. Is this an option that I am missing. I have copied everything exactly from the tutorial, I cannot imagine what I missed. Please help.

I haven’t seen that tutorial so i don’t know if this is of any help, but when copying as pasting paths from photoshop or illustrator, realise that the masks are using a square pixel format and won’t translate properly to a non-square pixel composition. So make sure you’re using square pixel comps to paste the paths.

    Thank you Michiel,

As I read it, I realized that could be the issue, but was too eager to blame the prefrences and not the aspect ratio.
