  RAM Preview Fading Woes

  Anytime I am RAM previewing a layer with any sort of feathered transparent edge, or an effect such as shine, the layer gets dimmer and dimmer on every pass. If I let the preview loop 10 times or more, the layer is barely visible and completely desaturated. As soon as I change anything that makes the comp update, it goes back to square one. If I actually render the file out though, everything is perfect and terrific. This occurs in both 6.0 and 6.5.

  Can anyone tell me whether or not this is a simple setting that needs correction, or is it a hardware thing, or simply a standard AE problem that everybody just deals with?

  That’s really weird. Never seen it.

  Have you tried
  a) deleting your preferences file?
  b) reinstalling AE?

  (save your render settings and output module templates to a separate file first, if you’ve made custom templates)
