  • Reference a layer or comp without duplicating it

    Hi
is there a way to reference a comp or layer without duplicating it? I mean I want to put an adjustment layer and that adjustment layer will act as a comp or a layer I reference in that same comp

    thank you

More information needed… what is it are you trying to accomplish? Sounds like this might be something that should be done with a precomp that is used in more than one comp, but that is hard to tell without knowing the desired end result.

actually, it will behave exactly like pre-comp but instead of doing that I want to have (for example) an effect I drag on solid and then reference a comp and it shows the content of that comp, I am actually trying to find a simpler way to make chromatic abortion without duplicating the comp

    thank you

You can blend another layer with the current one with Blend effect.

what that has to do with referencing a comp?

If you’re already creating another layer to reference it, what’s so wrong with using a copy of the pre-comp?

because the effect cannot be templated that way, it would require extra manual steps
