  voronoi shatter effect – multiple random mask generation on a layer using expressions

  Could anyone here be so kind to allow me to pick their brain on how to achieve what the now obsolete voronoi shatter expression does (genersting random small pieces of masks on a layer).
  Please save me from the tedious work of makibg 100 random masks on a layer or make them shape layers. The voronoi shatter script no longer works with adobe after effects 2017 because it needs an old java to run unfortunately hence turning to this forum.
