I am using Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC. I am using the Live Text AFX feature — and LOVE it!!!! I have put text and titles throughout the project using this feature. EXCEPT – all of a sudden — it is not working for me in one Premiere Pro project file.

In one of my project files, I can not add After Effects titles to the timeline.

When I try to drag an AFX title to the timeline, I get the NO circle (circle with a slash). I have been adding AFX titles to other files using a Template I made in AFX, importing it to Premiere Pro, duplicating it for each new title, changing text in Source Monitor using Effects Control, and replacing my old Illustrator title with the new AFX title. And doing that for each title. It is great.

When I do this in the project file where I can’t drag an AFX title either — this method produces nothing!! It replaces the Illustrator title with the linked AFX title, but the title will not show on the screen.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you very much!

[Kathie Andersen] “When I try to drag an AFX title to the timeline, I get the NO circle (circle with a slash).”

Does the Ae project in question contain any dynamic link references to the Premiere Pro project? If so, these circular references must be removed.

Failing that, can you drag Ae comps from that same AEP into a different .prproj?

Thank you for responding to my question!!

There are no other dynamic links in this sequence of the project. In another sequence of the same project, I have used “Edit in Adobe Audition.” I’m not sure if this counts as a dynamic link.

Failing that, can you drag Ae comps from that same AEP into a different .prproj?
Yes, I can drag comps from that same AEP in a different Premiere Pro project.

    Thanks,
    Kathie

What if you start a new Premiere Pro project and import the old one into it? Can you use the Ae templates then?

I started new PPro project as you suggested — but it will not allow me to add AFX text/titles.

What else do you have in that AEP? Can you reduce it down to just the title template and save it as a new file, then try to import that?

I did as you just suggested – same result. Can not drag the AFX composition/template to timeline. I am at a loss! Not sure what I did wrong here.

    Thanks!

Can you post the AEP so one of us can take a look?
