  Reduce the motion of a tracked element

  Hi guys

  I have tracked a person running, and I would like to have some text animate next to them, but because of the rather large vertical motion of the running style, it is making my text rather illegible.

  I have tracked a nose and applied a beam effect as a line. The other end of the beam effect is attached to the text.

  Is there an expression that can control/reduce the range of motion?

  you might try the smooth() function, it will sort of average the movement over a segment of time… try adding this expression to the position property of the tracked layer:

  smooth( .2, 5 )

  where .2 is the time segment (in seconds) and 5 is the number of samples it will average…. it seems a little redundant, but increasing the time segment and the number of samples should produce smoother results.
