  • Mocha AE unresponsive after track

Posted by James Archibald on October 24, 2014 at 9:54 am

    Hi everyone,

Since updating my work machine to the latest version of CC2014 (blue interface), Mocha AE has started going completely unresponsive after tracking any footage in a variety of formats which prevents me from refining the track or exporting the tracking data. This occurs whether the track completely finishes or if I stop it manually at any point.

I’ve used Mocha AE for over a year on this system without any problems prior to updating my version of CC2014, so I can’t imagine it’s a hardware issue.

    Win7 Pro 64bit
    Intel Core i7-3870X
    32768MB RAM
    NVIDIA Quadro K4000 4095MB

Thanks so much for your time!

    Archie

No such problems here. Perhaps there is an issue with the video format you’re using. Try converting one of the videos to a TIF image sequence and let us know how that works.

Unfortunately that was the first thing I tried 🙁

I’ll check if my home system is also suffering from this tonight, but considering the lack of google results it seems to be a fairly unique issue. Dang!

Check your mocha prefs to ensure that cached files are saved to a fast disk. The OpenGL settings also deserve a look into – try switching that off to see if it helps. Of course ensuring that you have the latest GPU drivers is a good idea.

Sorry but those are what I can think off at the moment.

    Cheers

    Hmm, a new development:
If I end the mocha ae process quickly enough after it has locked up, i get a windows error message informing me that “mediaIOserver.exe” has stopped working. I’m not sure if this will help narrow down the issue.

I’ve just updated a sister machine in the building to the latest CC2014 and Mocha AE has zero issues on it. Exactly the same hardware, exactly the same TIF sequence. :X

Oooh, unchecking VSync and/or disabling offscreen buffers in the OpenGL prefs has sorted it! Thanks hugely, Roland!

mediaIOserver.exe is a mocha file. It may have gotten corrupted. Do an OS search to find out where it resides on your machine. Then see if you can replace the copy on the faulty system with the same file from the ‘clean’ system. Of course do these while mocha and AE are not running.

If this fails, you may want to ask the Imagineer folks from the mochaAE link here – https://www.imagineersystems.com/support/forums/

    You’re most welcome James.

It will be good if you wrote to Imagineer here – https://www.imagineersystems.com/support/forums/ to let them know of the issue so that they will be able to identify the actual cause.

    Cheers
