I now work with AE CS6.

I used to work with CS4.

In CS6, when I set my render up as an AVI with No Video Codec and RGB + Alpha it doesn’t work. The render will complete and the video will play, but some frames are filled with large grey palettes (kind of like a no reception screen on TV filling a portion of some frames).

Can anyone recommend me another format I can use for RGB + Alpha export (i want to use it in Premiere) or a solution to the problem?

Do you really need to render, you can dymanic link in CS6 to Premiere, open Premiere and import the AE project.

If you really need to render out, I use Avid’s Codec DNxHD codec, it will create a quicktime file. Otherwise, if you are going for lossless, Quicktime Animation—large file size though.
