  • Convert 3D layers affected by camera to keyframes

Hi, I’m looking for a solution that would allow me to “bake” in keyframes for 3D layers affected by a camera. Essentially, I’d be able to remove the camera from the scene, but still have the scene playback look the same due to the layers having scale, position, and rotation keyframe data applied.

    Is this possible?

I’d say it is theoretically possible, IF the camera you have used is a 50 mm camera. (Apparently the default camera is 50 mm.)

The problem is the complexity of the reverse transformations.

I would imagine you would have to calculate (at least) the rotations and positions of every 3D layer in relation to the camera, then deduct the position and orientation (point of interest) of the camera, with an expression, then bake the results to keyframes so that you can remove the original camera.

It doesn’t sound impossible, but not very easy either.

You wouldn’t get depth of field with the default camera.

You mean, create keyframes for every object in your scene whose “visual position” is affected by a camera that you want to remove?
I have no idea how to do that, sorry. But I’m curious about it so I’m subscribing to this thread.

Why do you need that? What’s the problem with keeping your camera on the scene?
