  Comp duplicate – Converting comp name in expression

  Hi,

  I have comp 03 PROFILE in which I have COMP 2. I have expression on it.

  When I duplicate comp 03 PROFILE and get the 03 PROFILE 2, expression stay the same and I want to part (“03 PROFILE”) changes in (“03 PROFILE 2”) Is that possible?

  Is Comp 2 a layer in 03 PROFILE, and the expression is on that layer? If so, you could just change your expression to this:

  time+thisComp.layer(“MANIPULATION”).effect(“time”)(“Slider”)

  If the expression is inside Comp 2 though, then I don’t know what to suggest.

  Sorry expression is in Comp 2.

  I suspect you want to have the expression behave differently, depending on which comp the expression’s parent comp (Comp 2) is nested within. That won’t work. You would have to duplicate Comp 2 as well and point the expression in the new sub comp to the new master comp. This could be done with a script, but it might be more trouble than it’s worth.
