  Random delay in time remapped animation

  Hello everyone!

  I am new to expression and have lots of problems with that. I would be really grateful if someone could help me.

  I tried to make randomly delayed animation that is a time remapped composition. As a final result I wanted to have 9 copies of the layer that randomly plays the looped animation. The picture below describes better the situation:

  The composition has 25 frames of looped animation. The problem I have is that I cannot set a random delay of that loop.

  I tried that solution : https://www.motionscript.com/mastering-expressions/random-1.html (Back to the Task at Hand section), but I cannot play whole looped animation. Works fine for position control.

  I think I should create a “while loop” that will last for animation duration, then get a random number which will be an offset for animation. I don’t event know if my thinking is correct.

  I give up ;/

  What I created is only a random offset that changes after each animation time. It doesn’t play the animation from the beginning. I guess there is no way to check what is the current value of time remapping.

  My code was:

  animDur = framesToTime(25)
numberOfAnims = Math.floor(time/animDur)+1 // plus fist run
seedRandom(numberOfAnims,true)
offset = random(0,2) // random duration 0 - 2 seconds
valueAtTime((time%animDur)-offset) // get the animation
