  Expressions to control particles

  I have a “jungle” scene, where I need to have an easy way of animating small insects/bugs flying around as the camera moves. I was thinking of making each insect/bug as a particle, and I need an expression to control the flow of the particles. This way I don’t have to animate all the bugs seperately, and hopefulle save much time.

  Any suggestions on how to best achieve this effect? Sample expression would be great too.

  you would need to describe how you want the particle to behave. you should also include any third-party particles effects that you may have (like trapcode’s particular, etc.).

  Hi Kevin.

  I want the particles to move around in random (like the bugs/flies moves in real life).

  I primarly want to use Trapcode Particular. But if you have suggestions on other plug-ins that would ease the effect, you are welcome to suggest that as well.

  particular is a good plugin for this and it can do this without expressions.

  in the physics>air>turbulence settings increase the ‘affect position’ value. this will cause the particles to move randomly after birth.

  you can fine tune the random movement with the other settings in the turbulence field.
