  • Save expression for 3D Point Control as Animation Preset

    Hi everyone,

I’ve encountered very strange behaviour of AE when I try to save animation preset for 3D Point Control. I do the following:

    1) Create a Null Object, add to it a “3D Point Control” effect, alt-click on the stopwatch and animate it with expression [1,1,1].
    2) Select this control and choose Animation-Save Animation Preset
    and save it as “test”
    3) Create another Null Object amd add to it the newly created “test” effect.

Then the problem is that the new Null has a 3D Point Control, but it is not animated! I.e. instead of [1,1,1] the value is [50,50,0], which is default.

However if I do the same steps with “Point Control” (which is 2D), everything works just fine. Looks like a bug with 3D Point Control…

    Any ideas?

I’m not seeing that behavior–it appears to work as expected. I have no idea know why it doesn’t work for you. Are you running the 11.0.1 update?

Well, I have CS 5.5, version of AE is 10.5.0.253. I’ll try to get the update, thank you for your response, Dan!

Ah, OK. I just tried it in CS5.5 and it behaves as you describe. Apparently it was a bug fixed with CS6.
