  Text Preset / Expression Advice

  I’ve been trying to replicate some text in/out animations such as this… (see 1.05 – ‘Plan & Manage’)

  The staggered position, per-character animation, with slight bounce is what I am trying to achieve. Could anyone tell me if this is an expression used on a text animator, or a tweaked text preset?

  Any nods in the right direction would be appreciated!

  It tried to get what you need and reached to a certain point.
  Try to use these settings :

  1. Apply “Enable per character 3D” to your text.
  2. Then add “Position” animation Attribute.
  3. Now use these setting:

  At frame=0

  Start=0
  End=100
  Amount=-10%
  Shape=Round
  Position=0,-2800,0

  At frame=10

  Position=0,780,0

  At frame=20

  Start=100

  4. Make a rectangular mask above the letters so that they will appear one by one to the screen.

  You can manipulate some settings for the desired result.

  I can”t figure out the exact settings as the text in the video remains for less than 1 sec.

  Wow, thanks Vishesh!

  I’ve been playing with your settings over the weekend and had some success. The word trails off well but the first few letters don’t have the same fluid movement as the rest.

  It’s a great start but I’m going to carry on looking for something more consistent. Thanks again

  Try this.
  4565_waveonfromfront.ffx.zip
  4564_waveonfromback.ffx.zip
  Waves on from front or back, supports 2 or 4 keyframes, keyframes 1 and 2 go at beginning and end of the animate on part, keyframes 3 and 4 go at the beginning and end of the animate off part. It should calculate everything else for you. Use the Y Offset slider under Effects to make the text come in from the top or the bottom. Throw a mask on the text layer so only the text is showing, then apply this — you should get the picture. Even works if you add them both.

  Additionally, here’s 2 more that only do one character at a time.

  These work the same as the other ones. I am seeing some problems though. Your first keyframe needs to go at the start of the layer (or put it wherever you want and trim the layer to the keyframe). Also, it’s not really set up for multiple animator. I’m not sure how to point to the index of different animators, so this will definitely work with one animator… not so well with 2 necessarily.

  Cheers Dane!

  The slider & expressions work great, but didn’t provide the bounce on each character that I was looking for. However, by tweaking this preset and then adding a second Animator, Ramp Down, keyframing ease in/out, end & offset I got exactly what I was looking for.

  So a mix of both methods – thanks heaps, Vishesh & Dane!

  How’d you get it to bounce? I’m having trouble recreating that.
