  • Link speed of position change to the timing???

    Posted by Chris Mellor on August 13, 2012 at 2:02 pm

    Hello all,

    Here’s my situation. I have a swimming fish perfectly looped so the tale goes back and forth back and forth etc. The fish is set to automatically loop 200 times via the “Interpret Footage” option in the project panel.

    The position of the fish is then animated across the screen, so it looks like its swimming. To achieve more realism, I have adjusted the speed of the position change so that it slows down sometimes, and speed up other times.

    To look real, the timing of the fish loop has to be sped up when the position speeds up, and vice versa. I can do this manually, but it is a pain and hard to tweak down the road.

    Could you guys help me with an expression to link the fish’s position speed with the timing of the clip?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Chris

    for example
    put looping layer in precomp
    apply to timeremap property

    s = thisComp.layer("Comp 1 Comp 1").transform.position.speed/100;
    timeRemap * s;
