CE Pixel Sampler Tutorial
I just viewed Jerzy Drozda’s Pixel Sampler Video Tutorial. It was great but I had a problem installing his animation presets that could be downloaded with the tutorial.
First off I must mention that I’m on a Mac.
The animation presets were no problem to drop into the After Effect Presets folder but when it came to adding the xml files to the PresetEffects.xml, I couldn’t find the Mac equivalent of that file.
Can someone tell me where to find it?

Did you read the instructions on the tutorial page? Just above where you download the presets?
Here they are again:
- Download Mac version of the package below.
Unpack it to a convenient place - Right click (or control-click) on the After Effects CS3 application name in your Application folder. choose ‘Show Package Contents’
- Navigate to the Resources folder and locate the PresetEffects.xml file. Make a backup copy of this file.
- Open PresetEffects.xml file in any text editor
- Open the XML file provided in the package that you
- Download Mac version of the package below.

Thanks Kathlyn, but the trouble is, there is no such file at that location.
How is that possible?

actually, he mentions that he assumes the mac file would be in a similar location, but could not be certain… have you tried ‘find?’
i was hoping to find that xml file to do some hacks of my own, i hope there is a mac equivalent….

i found it, it is in the ae app package.
select the ae application and control-click (or right-click) and select show package contents. in contents/resources you’ll find the preseteffects.xml file…. modify and save.

This is kind of hard to understand for us mac people — I know we’re not used to all these invisible files. Jerzy didn’t know and I searched long and hard for the instructions.
I’ve made a little graphic. Hopefully, this will help. I’ll also link it in to the tutorial page as well.

…..aahhhhhhhhhhhhahhhhhhhhh….

i’m sorry Kathlyn… i must admit i was in ahurry and didn’t fully read your description, i had read Maltaannon’s description for windows earlier, and hadn’t realized there was an instruction set for mac…

It was confusing. I’m sorry I didn’t explain it well enough.
