    Hi,

Ok, firstly I am new to AE, and thanks for having this site !!

Here is the problem, there is the little (f) icon which “turns of effects”, great, but is there any way to have this set on/off on the time line.

Example. I want to use pixel poly, on some footage, at various points in the time line, and I didn’t want to have to chop it up to do it.

Sorry, if this is a dumb question!! All I can say is i am new to it all.

    Thanks again for any help.

the “F” is not keyframe-able and so it is not possible to control by expressions.

Some effects have a “zero effect” setting that looks the same as applying no effect (obvious examples are a blur with radius 0, or a tint, with amount to tint=0)

In the case of Pixel polly, it’s a bit more difficylt: a lot of parameters have to be set to a ‘neutral value’ for it to have no effect.

    here’s a solution:

Add a “Checkbox Control” to your Pixel polly layer: this is just a little checkbox, you can keyframe the setting of this.
    Click it to ‘on’

    now copy this expression:

    effect("Checkbox Control")("Checkbox").value ? value : 0

to the following properties of pixel polly:

    Force
    Gravity
    Spinning

Now when you uncheck the checkbox, these will all default to value 0 -> no shattering

A big thanks, i try that out.

Why don’t AE “enforce” the effect on / off to the developer of the plugins, it would make sense, and life a lot easier!!

Does any one know if the “F” icon will be key able in the cs3 version, or an option to turn on & off in a key able way. Without having to resort to clever scripts.

    thanks
