I’m looking for a script that will let me make solids floolow one onother. I need to make a cover on a bed rise up in a box shape. Like a telephone was within the bed and it starts to rise and the cover starts to form around the box. Any ideas?

Methinks 3D Layer will do what you want.

killer…thanks for the input. We already looked into that and didn’t get the look we wanted. The spot im creating is a 3d world made in AE with planes and all that jazz. Really flat looking and stuff. So the 3d doesn’t have the look but thatnks. What im looking for is a script to help me move layers around to a master null and move like a cover rising. But of course ae style nothing real but killer looking…..sry for mispelled words….working and trying to research at the same time…tahnks again

Should the layers deform in 3D, to show the shape of the body underneath your cloth ?

I think you need displacement mapping like with Forge Freeform.

Without an extra plugin like this, your layers will allways be “Hard”.
As Mylenium would say: do this in a 3D application, or let some 3D artist do it.

For some effects you could chain a lot of rigid solids together, and program inertia (slowness) into the layers, here’s an example:

unfortunately, this renders pretty slow, because of all the calculations…

[Filip Vandueren] “do this in a 3D application, or let some 3D artist do it.”

*lol* spot on. In this case probably Cinema 4D’s MoGraph module would do nicely – you could create a cloner with planes/ cubes and modify them using effectors to represent your box underneath. By animating a few parameters this would give a nice illsusion of thousands of small planes “hugging” your box and forming a sheet/ cover. If you’re going for a more realistic look, you can’t possibly avoid die-hard cloth dynamics simulation.
