Wiggling certain dimensions via sliders
My idea is to have a bunch of falling layers cover the screen for a beat then to fall away. I can do the falling in and out position part, but I am having a one heck of time with isolating the wiggle property to only the x and y parameters of the layer orientation. I was saving the position param for the falling expression I wrote.
I have little programming experience, and I know enough about expression and javascript to be confused.
Basically, I am trying to get a bunch of 3D layers to wiggle in the x and y dimensions only. I want each one to have it’s own random seed and each wiggle parameter has it’s own slider on a null object.
I was able to get the following to work, however a new value is generated on every frame, I want a slower change in orientation, think leaves floating.
[random(thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“minwiggle”)(“Slider”), thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“maxwiggle”)(“Slider”)),random(thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“minwiggle”)(“Slider”), thisComp.layer(“Null 1”).effect(“maxwiggle”)(“Slider”)),orientation[2]]
I know the problem is because I am using the random method. But when I try this approach with wiggle, I get all kinds of errors. Not to mention the expression doesn’t look as elegant as I think it should.
orientation[wiggle(thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Freq”)(“Slider”), thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Amp”)(“Slider”), octaves = thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Octaves”)(“Slider”), amp_mult = thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Amp Mult”)(“Slider”), t = time*thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Time”)(“Slider”)), wiggle(thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Freq”)(“Slider”), thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Amp”)(“Slider”), octaves = thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Octaves”)(“Slider”), amp_mult = thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Amp Mult”)(“Slider”), t = time*thisComp.layer(“Null 2”).effect(“Wiggle Time”)(“Slider”)), orientation[2]]
Basically I used the pick whip to connect wiggle parameters with my null object sliders.
Help, please.
Thank you in advance.
