I need to recreate some effects for an upcoming video with after effects. The following link is the reference I have been given. https://youtu.be/Lrle0x_DHBM

    How can i achieve:
    – the psychedelic delay effect as seen in 1:04.
    – Glowing and changing colored tint on the trio as seen in 1:44
    – Hypnotic flashes behind the two little person on both sides as seen in 2:35
    – glowing pink outline as seen in 3:21

This is all a lot easier if you are shooting elements for chroma-key. If not, you will have to rotoscope them to get the edge-based effects.

[Nelson Ng] “the psychedelic delay effect as seen in 1:04.”

    Echo effect, plus Colorama.

[Nelson Ng] “- Glowing and changing colored tint on the trio as seen in 1:44”

High-contrast levels adjustment, plus Tint effect (with changing colors), plus Unmult.

[Nelson Ng] “- Hypnotic flashes behind the two little person on both sides as seen in 2:35”

A few layers, with Fill effect for coloring, plus Blur, plus an Levels adjustment for Alpha only.

Drop Shadow effect or layer style.

    – the psychedelic delay effect as seen in 1:04.

You could play with a keying and the echo effect, but this was a DVE effect in the 70/80’s, not really sure how to recreate.

    – Glowing and changing colored tint on the trio as seen in 1:44

A glow effect would take care of the first part. Then in this instance some sort of luma key was applied and a the hue was adjusted.

    – Hypnotic flashes behind the two little person on both sides as seen in 2:35

I’d probably just duplicate the layers, use a key, add a blur effect, then a fill effect.

Could be done with the above method, or perhaps just a luma key, with just a glow.
