Countdown timer
Hi guys
Does anyone know how to do a countdown time in after effects?
We’re doing a boxing programme and need to create a countdown timer that counts down in seconds (NOT frames/timecode).
Any ideas very welcome!!!

erm – a *little* more help would use useful :o)
I found some posts that have the expression text (which may work)???). But how do I insert an expression? Where’s the command for it???
Please help!!!

Adding an expression:
Copy the expression (like copying text, Ctrl C), then Alt Click the Stopwatch for the parameter you want to add an expression to, then paste (Ctrl V). click outside the boxwhere the expression appeared and a little equal sign appears next to the stopwatch and the values are red, meaning the values are controlled by an expression. If you want to disable the expression click on the equal sign to break it.
Your countdown the expression probably needs to be applied to the Source Text parameter. You get there, by clicking on the screen with the Text Tool, where you want the countdown to be. Then in the new Text Layer, twirl down those little triangles for layer name and “Text” until you see the “Source Text” stopwatch. Copy, Alt Click the stopwatch, paste.
Note: Source Text is one of the few parameters that doesn’t have values showing, hence no red values. If you alt click something like Size or Rotation, you’ll see what I mean. Also an easy way to check for expression on a layer is to select it then hit “ee” (quickly) and the expressions will be exposed.
