This one is driving me around the bend.

I work mainly with film scans at 2K and as a result use the Add Grain and Match Grain plug ins quite a bit. Trouble is if I touch ANY key while AE is going through the match grain rendering stage the entire application will fold like a deck of cards. That includes touch the caps-lock to try and halt the rendering process. I have confirmed this on four machines – all macs. The most annoying part is that this occurs WHENEVER after effects is attempting to render through the match grain plug, including when it is doing a ‘background’ render of a comp icon.

I can’t find a record of posts on this HUGE bug. Has anyone seen this issue? Any work arounds out there?

    Thanks

    Erik

    Hey,

    Maybe try updating to 6.51?

    Take care,

    Nick

Sure enough, this did the trick. From the AE 6.5.1 read me after installation:

The following issues have been resolved by the After Effects 6.5.1 update:
    – Fixed a problem with soloing guide layers causing layers to be invisible.
    – Fixed
