  • Render ends when I switch to another application

    Hi there,
I have an unexpected issue when I launch a render in AE.

The render stops (no crash, I here the little ending melody) whenever I launch it and switch to any other application (to keep on working on something or to go procrastinating on reddit) !

I am running the latest build of After Effects CC, with multiprocessing on, using a PNG sequence render setting, on an Full HD composition, with no 3rd party plugin used.

    Any thoughts ?

Can you mail me a few thousand bucks so that I can buy a second computer ?
    THAT would be helpful.

Mac OSX Mavericks has a feature called App Nap where it stops powering any application that isn’t immediately in front of it. Here’s an article about it
    https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/disable-app-nap-os-x-mavericks/

All you need to do is click get info on the application and “prevent app nap”

    [Matthieu Foulet] “with multiprocessing on”

You’re probably running out of RAM when you’re using other applications when rendering. That will stop the render.

I didn’t know about app nap, I will look into that.

That’s what I thought because the issue does not occur with multiprocessing turned off.

I will tweak my settings to see if I can get rid of the problem.

Sure, but I can’t find a good editing app for it 😉
