Hi there! So after visiting this site quite a lot for the past few days (looking for help on AE stuff), I finally decided to join.
What brought me here is a question about text animation that I can’t seem to solve with resources I could find online.
What I’m trying to do is to replicate the following effect on text layers with After Effects CS4: https://i.imgur.com/zkp2D6G.gif

Sure, I can animate each letter manually, but I have a lot of lines to apply this on. That’s why I’m trying to do it using expressions. But I’m stuck. I can’t find a way to do the letter positioning randomly, since it’s not exactly random. The exit animation for each character should be on the opposite direction from the entrance animation, with the same distance from it’s original position. Can anyone help me with this?

Under the Range Selector > Advanced menu you can select Randomize Order Off or On.
