    Hi all,

    I briefly posted this question in a separate thread along with a different question, but it’s big enough of a head scratcher to break it out:

    I’ve imported an Illustrator file into AE CS6, with the intent of extruding it in 3D. I drop the following image onto my timeline:

    Then I right click on the clip and select “convert shapes from vector layer”. The problem is I end up with this:

    I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. It looks like the outlines are there, but they’re not appearing for some reason:

    Anyone have any ideas as to how to get AE to properly convert this?

    There are highly complex paths at play here – it’s difficult to see what’s the issue. Having said that, if you’ve done your export correctly and the import into AE went well then the issue has to do with the Fill Rule for Shape Layers – more info here.

    Alternatively, why not copy-paste your paths from AI directly into a Shape Layer in AE?
