I have been totally unable to figure out how to configure this to happen, and how to get it to see the second computer. And I have not been able to find any step by step instructions. Anybody game to help this old dog learn a new trick?

    Thanx

    Hello Charlie,

You have 2 Ethernet cards in eother pc, you then connect via a ethernet cable pc – pc or via a network hub, if you are on Microsoft Windows XP you have an option to setup a home Network, you can use the wizard and setup a network which is not on the internet.

Machine 1: After Effects Work station with Grid Iron
    IP: 192.168.0.4

Machine 2: After Effects Render engine and grid iron
    IP: 192.168.0.5

You can set the ip’s manually in Microsoft XP by going to control pnale netwrok connections, then right clicking properties, then TCP/IP then configuring a mamnual IP.

In After Effects you then create a watch folder and configure the gridiron to use the IP on the 2nd pc. I have only used the Gridirin once ages ages. So very rough.

    Hope this helps?

Sorry I guess I should have stated more information, I am already networked. I can’t find how to actually start X-Factor. Especially since Help in X-Factor has one listing “About” the version number doesn’t really tell me how to use it. hahaha

I’ll play around some more and see first if I can figure it out, and second if it really helps any.

    Thanx

    Charlie
