Is anyone running After Effects on an AMD chipset? I’m curious about the near 4.7GHz 8-core AMD FX processor as I’m planning to buy or build a new rig and the cost is much lower than comparable Intel Xeons.

I built an AMD based system several years ago and abandoned it due to instability with After Effects.

I’d be surprised if you had any problems with After Effects CS6 or later. We’ve been testing the OpenGL features on both AMD and Intel systems and have been having good results for the past several generations.

Also, the new OprnGL features are less fragile than before. The OpenGL features in After Effects CS5.5 and earlier were… um… I’m struggling for a polite word for “crud”.
