Panasonic HDX900-No Zebras!
We have two Panasonic HDX900 camcorders and one will refuse to provide Zebras.
I believe that we have checked all of the menus refering to Zebras.
We have even compared the menus on both cameras. Still no zebras.Has anyone else experienced the lack of Zebras on the HDX900?

Hi Ray,
Just to rule out that it is not the menus and is something in the camera, save the settings of the HDX that has the sebras on to a card, then load those settings into the second camera. If you still do not have zebras, contact Panasonic service.

Sometimes, and I’ve noticed this especially with the color LCD VF on my F900R, the brightness control on the viewfinder being too high obliterates the zebra pattern. Could this be the problem?

I thought of that too. I swapped the viewfinder with another HDX900 and the problem stayed with the camera. Both viewfinders had zebras, only one camera had zebras.
I just don’t want to send the camera to Panasonic and then find out that it was operator error.

I’ve had this problem before with Varicams, and always solved it by going back to factory set (Initialize) and then rebuilding my custom settings from there. I’ll bet anything it is operator error and advise you to start from scratch rather then risk money and humiliation by sending to service depot. You can find out quite easily by just re-initializing the camera. Good luck.

Probably a stupid question, but did you check the switch on the front of the VF? Sometimes I get so focused on the menu with this cam, I forget their are actual switches for some functions…

Yes, we checked the VF switch. We have two HDX900 cameras. When we swap VFs, both VFs show zebras, both cameras do not. This verified that the switch on the VF is working. -
Any more news re this problem?

It appears to be a problem on the DSP Board on one of our cameras.
We are into our busy season so I am hesistant to send the camera out for repair.The seasoned shooters can shoot without Zebras until we have a window wide enough to send the camera out.
