Capture DvcPro HD 24fps 60hz over firewire?
Hi,
Im looking to get a deck to capture footage shot on the Varicam at 720/24p over 60hz and have been coming over different information regarding whether the panasonic decks can output both 59/60hz and not just the 59hz recorded material.
Does anybody know if its possible too capture the footage I have via firewire?

the 1200, 1400 and 1700 decks all support the 60hrz timelines if that is what was set incamera – you will have to nudge some of the settings however due to the fact that most of the NLE’s expect/ want 59.94 as opposed to the 60.
You can achieve this by creating your own timeline in Express Pro / Adrenaline or FCP.
As for Premiere and the other NLE’s I am not sure.gary adcock

The 1200A deck will not output through the Firewire if it’s set at 60hz, though I’m not sure about the 1400 and the 1700. The 1200 will only output through the Firewire if it’s set at 59.94. This is menu item 030, which must read 59/23 rather than 60/24.

Only if the camera tape is 59.94.
if the camera tape is set to 60hrz the output from the deck is 60hrz not 59.94 – the video output is based on what was shot in the camera.

The Camera Tape must have been shot at 60hrz to get 60hrz out of the deck. I was using a 1400 deck, and you CANNOT have the deck convert between

60hz over firewire into FCP with a 1200 does work last time I tested, so unless some recent update has fixed this issue, I assume this is still the case. Yet to test with 1400.
