Are there any limitations to what frame rates can be used on various resolutions?

For example, with the Panasonic HVX-200, you cannot use varying framerates with 1080, only 720. Is that the same with the Varicam? What about 1080i and 1080p? Any limitations there?

    Thanks,
    Russ

VariCam is 720p only, although any of the Panasonic HD decks can output 1080.

    Good shooting!

You would need to pick up the new 900 camera from Panasonic to shoot both 720 and 1080i in a shoulder mount camera similar to the Varicam. But there you’re limited to 24, 30 and 60fps only, not complete frame control like the Varicam.
