    Does Varicam have a dolby setting? If so where?
    A recent client tech requirement sheet had “dolby off” and It was the first request I had for it, but couldn’t find it in any of the vtr menues

    J,

    I would guess that because the Varicam records audio digitally (converts A to D on input and D to A on output to headset and 5-pin XLR) there is no Dolby encodeing. Dolby was designed initially to minimize tape hiss on analog recordings!

    J;

    There is no Dolby audio processing on digital cameras. I suspect your tech sheet check list was referring to a mode switch on the older BetaCam Sp amd MII formats, both used Dolby C for NR on their CH1/CH2 analogue audio tracks. All modern formats are 100% digital, thus Dolby encoding doesn’t apply.

    Hope it helps!
