  I used Syncro Scan to get 1/50 shutter speed. Am i doing this right?

  I was shooting in a foreign country today. Neon lights indoors. I needed to go 1/50th shutter speed to get rid of flicker. I went into camera and turned Syncro Scan to 1/50th. Is that the way to do it? How can I tell if the Syncro Scan is actually activated?
