HMC150 shooting to SD QT DV files?
Maybe I’m over looking that stat… but is the HMC150 capable of capturing SD QuickTime mov (DV) files to the SDHC card — much like my current workflow of using the Panasonic DVX100b to record straight to a FS-4 (those QuickTime files with time code – very nice way of working)…
… or am I basically looking at transcoding the files on that card no matter what with the HMC150?

When I need quick turnaround – record, get it in the MBPro, rip it off to a DVD, hand over … very RAW and unedited. The quicker, the better.
That and easy to mix with what I’ve captured with the DVX100b

If that’s your workflow just get a DV camera. Otherwise it’s a total waste of what the 150 can do. You could set up a droplet in Compressor so you just drop in footage and it becomes downconverted DV but again seems pointless to shoot HD if you’re only expected to deliver DV footage.

I’m looking forward to the versatility. Granted, I’ll be using the other features and codecs …
but, I was simply wandering if the HMC150 could do that.
… so it sounds like the droplet technique in Compressor is what I’m looking at?
I have a Sony HC1 and can hook that to the FS-4 but I don’t like the idea of running around and capturing with that unit bumping around on my belt. There’s moving parts in there… can’t be good for it.
