  How to use a Director’s Viewfinder w/dvx?

  I was recently given a mini zoom-finder. I love using it only I don’t know how to apply the numbers to the shot. It has formats for 16mm, 35mm, “AN”, 2/3″, and 1″. I use a DVX-100; I tried every format to match the viewfinder’s number to the DVX’s zoom, but no format matches perfectly. Am I using it incorrectly or is it too old? Is there a ratio I can use for the DVX?

  I wouldn’t get caught up too much in using one- on a DVX shoot it’s kinda overkill- no offense. 🙂

  But if you really wanted to get a more accurate marking you would take the 35mm equivalent lens and make yourself a chart. The DVX100’s lens zooms from:

  4.5mm to 45mm

  in 35mm it’s equivalent to:

  32.5mm to 325 mm

  So take the current zoom setting and correlate to the 35mm and then you’ll see the same lens on your DVF.
