  Letterbox FCP Anamorphic settings Help

  I am helping a friend edit some footage for an art video.

  She shot it in letterbox mode on the DVX-100b 29.97. She captured it in FCP using the capture setting DV NTSC Anamorphic.

  When I look at the quicktime is stretched out horizontally. The info says format 720×480 but the current size and normal size are 854×480. I thought letterbox in DVX-100 would just letterbox a 4:3 image.

  Here is the question: To get the correct aspect ratio to edit and for output – 1. Should the clip be checked as anamorphic in the browser? 2.Should the sequence setting be checked as anamorphic/16×9?

  Normally I can tell by the eye which is right, but these are abstract sculptures so I really have no frame of reference.

  It was shot Letterbox.

  Then it should not have been captured as anamorphic because it’s not. You can simply uncheck the anamorphic check box for each clip in your bin. But this will not affect clips already placed in a timeline.
