  • Shoot DVX for cable tv infomercial?

    Hi all,
I have been asked to shoot a 30 min infomercial to air on a cable network on the real cheap. If I could have my wish, I would shoot DVCPRO50, but the budget says 2 DVX’s.
Wondering what is the best way to get the highest quality look? Should I shoot 24p and just go with that or should I be expecting to up the resolution somehow. If I res up, with what device/method that would look good but still be cost effective ($2500 max)?
Thanks so very much for the time and advice!
    W.T.

Thanks so much for the insights. Waiting to hear back from the network about their policy.
In general, could you not take footage shot in DV and res up to a better standard, thereby making DV seem like DVCPRO25, for example? Is there a way to get DV footage to be HD?
Thanks again for your thoughts on this.

Totally- you do not under any circumstances want to shoot DV if the delivery format is HD. The way to make DV into HD is shoot HD. Even if that means shooting HDV…

Got it — thanks Dave and Noah. I greatly appreciate the straightforward and timely advice.
The network’s format is Sony HDCAM 1080i 59.94 fps. Is that possible to do with HDV? I am relatively unfamiliar with the Sony HDV workflow.

How on earth did they expect to get HDCAM 1080/60i on the really cheap?
