  Seeking list of DVX100 Feature Films

  Hi all,

  Can anybody tell me if a feature film with a theatrical or major video release has been shot on the 100? I know hundreds of indies have been shot, but are there any films that an average person (i.e. financier) might recognize? Sundance winners, etc ok too.

  Thanks, that was very helpful. Bummer that there still doesn’t seem to be a somewhat recognizable film made w/ this camera. But at least there’s been a LOT of them!

  I could be wrong but I dont think you are going to find that any major motion picture was shot on DV. As great as the dvx is there are many cameras that I’d prefer to shoot with if I had the money

  There are four films out in theaters right now that were shot on the DVX100. They include:
  “November” (winner, best cinematography, Sundance 2004)
  “Murderball” (winner, Documentary Audience Award, Sundance 2005, also winner Special Jury Prize for Editing, Sundance 2005)
  “Mad Hot Ballroom” (winner, “Best Film”, several film festivals)

  Can’t remember the name of the fourth one, but there’s a fourth one out now too…

  Just remember no one is watching those films because they were shot on a DVX100, they’re watching them because they are good movies.

  If the question is: can you shoot a real movie on the DVX100? The answer is absolutely yes. If the question is: does shooting on a DVX100 make a movie good? No way.

  Oh for sure. I’m the head of a video production program in New York and students sometimes ask me why we don’t shoot film. This is just one more way to illustrate how lucky they are to be shooting in the age of 24P. And you’re right- a crappy film, no matter how pretty it is, is still a crappy film.
