  • Am I hosed? I shot 24P and 24PA

    Hi,

My dp inadvertantly shot 3 of 10 reels, it looks like, in 24P mode, the others in 24PA. It was a five camera shoot. He assures me all were shooting in 24PA. I captured the footage in FCP with the Remove Advanced Pulldown toggle turned on. All 10 reels open in Composer and Quicktime, for example, as 23.98 material, but in FCP the 3 “suspicious” reels open at 29.97.

Any clues as to what’s going on?

My editor is a high-powered Fire artist at Warner Bros. I’m trying to do some leg work for him, he doesn’t have the time, doing me a favor, etc.. I tried running the 3 wiggy reels through DVFilm Maker to conform them to 23.98, but now they have interlaced frames and other strangeness.

Is there an easy way to know for sure what is happening with these 3 oddball reels?

Can all 10 reels be edited together in the same timeline? I may ultimately want to go to 35 with this short.

    Thanks so much,
    Eric
