We’re shooting with HPX500 and client wants us to record 4:3 Standard Def ProRes files onto a KiPro via SDI. (The P2 recordings won’t be used.)

So, we could either shoot and send a 720 HD signal to the KiPro and have KiPro downconvert to SD with center-crop, or, set-up the camera to shoot SD and send the SD signal to the KiPro.

Any ideas on which would produce a better result?

Also, is timecode embedded on the SDI signal from the camera? We’re shooting with 2 cameras that would have identical TC and, of course, want the KiPro files to record the same code.

    Thanks,

    Craig

I would go HD-SDI out of the HPX-500 and set the KiPro SDI to Downconvert. Timecode is embedded in the SDI signal.
