  HD with HPX 170 and Premiere Pro 5.5

  I have been shooting in 720pn at 24p and editing in 720p 24p in Adobe Premiere. But I am starting to do some outside night shoots and the lights available don’t make for the best shots. I know that I can get better shots with the camera though… I am thinking about shooting in 1080i 24p, I was using the PN mode to save P2 space, but at this point if 1080i 24p will make that much of a dramatic difference in sharpness and clarity then I will start shooting in 1080i 24p. But my other question is that Adobe only offers to edit in 1080i 60i, there isn’t an option to edit 1080i 24p in it, so do I edit in 60i?

  The format you shoot in ~ IS NOT going to affect the amount of light the camera is picking up.

  You need to boost up the gain and open the iris.

  The 170 is not the best for low-light, it’s going to be grainy/noisy at best.

  Have you looked at the low light abilities of DSLRs?

  As with any photography, lighting is essential. Set up more lights for correct exposure. Try playing with the DRS on the 170.
